Poor hygiene

What is Poor Hygiene?
Good sanitation and good hygiene protect us from many illnesses. In advanced countries, our sanitation is developing more and more. Especially, the Japanese toilet is always developing and I think the Japanese toilet is the best in the world!
But on the other hand, there is poor hygiene and poor sanitation in many countries.
Every day, over 2.5 billion people suffer from a lack of access to improved sanitation and nearly 1.2 billion practice open defecation, the riskiest sanitary practice of all.

What will happen to children??
One of the consequences of poor hygiene is unclean water. Usually we can drink tap water at our house because the water is clean. But many children don’t have clean water and are drinking dirty water. A child dies every 15 seconds from disease attributable to unsafe drinking water, deplorable sanitation and poor hygiene.
Many children (mainly girls) are forced to walk long distances for safe water, so they can’t go to school.
The world government thinks that if we can solve the water problem, almost all problems in the world will be solved.

Of course, poor hygiene is not only the water problem. If we don’t have good sanitation and people don’t know how to make themselves clean, they will get sick, too.

And many mothers (pregnant) lose their babies because of the poor hygiene.
In some countries they don’t have good hygiene for delivering new life. Some midwives cut the umbilical cord by using a fragment of grass. Of course the pregnant mother will get disease and also the baby also gets disease too.

This is happening in the world.,,

What people doing in the world?

Give examples of advocacy programs and the impact they are making in this area.

In Pakistan UNICEF is supplying clean water and basic needs. Also they open the schools for children and teaching them how to clean themselves.
In Japan a company made a straw so that we can drink any water, even if it is dirty. And Japanese is supplying the straw to people who are living without clean water. I hope through this work, people can live in good hygiene more and more. And not only in developing countries but also we need to keep good hygiene by ourselves. Wash our hands and keep clean sanitation and drink clean water.

News about poor hygiene

This week I researched about "Poor Hygiene".

Poor sanitation could worsen Haiti cholera outbreak, CDC says

12, Jan, 2010 Suddenly, an earthquake happened in Haiti, and many people lost their family and houses. They are still suffering from cholera and diarrhea because they don’t have good hygiene and sanitation.
I can’t believe that it happened already 1 year ago, but still people are suffering from the earthquake.
I live in Japan and we have many earthquake and calamity, but I’m living with good hygiene so I never think about those problems and solutions…
We don’t know when and where earthquake and calamity is happening. So I think that we need to be thinking about this problem and about solutions to the calamity.

Question!
1.    What is the core problem in Haiti now??
2.    How is poor hygiene affecting people?
3.    Why are cholera and diarrhea happening?
4.    Why are people getting angry?
5.    Why can’t the government solve those problems soon?
6.    Why don’t people know how to make good hygiene and sanitation?
7.    Why it is taking 1 year to solve the problem and still it is not solved?
8.    What is your definition of good hygiene and sanitation?
9.    What is the government’s responsibility?
10.  What can we do? How?

4th week lecture!!!

This week's speaker !!!

Ed and Key are a beautiful couple and they are great staff and also father and mother for our CRS. And Philippa is good friend of them and great speaker for this week. And they are working at WCAC. They told us about Dominions and Domains in the world.
I enjoyed this week. Even though I already learned about Domains before, I felt everything was new for me.

2 or 3 main concepts that I took out of lectures.
Concept1 They are authority domains in our life Government, family, church
I didn’t know that church had big authority in our life, and that the church can do many things for neighbors, because in my home church, we don’t do anything for neighbors. I was thinking what my church can do at the community…my church is too small. But I hope I can find something.
Concept2 Personal responsibility is choosing.
We have the right to choose. God gave us!  That means we need to have an authority to myself and responsibility for own life.
Concept3 Take a rest
I notice that I’m really not good at taking rest. I always try to work and I’m not good at time distribution for my daily life. I mean I can be lazy but I can’t use time wisely.
I need to take a time with God!!!  Actually I love to date with God under the night sky but these days I can’t date with Him…mmm

How was I challenged personally in what was shared this week?
In this week I was challenged to think about church authority, especially about my church. My church is not trying to go outside and they did some ministry for children for a year but they suddenly stopped doing ministry for them. I can’t see any authority in my church. So I was challenged to think about my church and pray for them. And also I was challenged to thinking about what is rest for me. And I notice that I’m not good at to taking rest in God’s arms. Actually this challenge is always happening to me. I went to four schools already but I’m always challenged to take time with God. I’m sorry God…
